Questions

How long does a karta pobytu take in 2026?

It depends heavily on the voivodeship office. Official office data for 1 Jan – 30 Sep 2026 (average time to a decision on temporary residence, from 10 voivodeship offices' replies to our public-information requests): 250–539 days, about 8–18 months. The tracker shows the window for your office and permit type, from community decisions where available.

Is there a legal deadline for the decision?

Normally 60 days for temporary residence and 6 months for permanent residence or EU long-term resident status, but these deadlines are suspended until 4 March 2027, so there is no official overdue date for now.

Is my stay legal while I wait?

Usually yes, if you filed while your stay was legal and the application has no formal defects (or you fixed them on time). Since MOS there is no passport stamp; the certificate (zaświadczenie) in your MOS account is your proof of filing.

Can I travel while waiting for my karta pobytu?

The filing confirmation lets you leave Poland but not re-enter or travel in Schengen. To come back you need a valid visa, a residence card or remaining visa-free days.

What data does the tracker store?

Your case is saved on your device. If you choose to add it to the public board, we store only the office, permit type and dates, never your name, PESEL or case number. Your e-mail is stored only if you turn on reminders, and every e-mail has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Estimates come first from decisions shared on the EEP waiting-time board, then from published estimates with their source and date. Deadlines suspension: voivodeship office notice. General information, not legal advice.
